By the end of 2007 one of the first projects the LNF funded was completed: Sophie Kasonde-Ng’andu of the Department of Educational Psychology, Sociology & Special Education, School of Education, University of Zambia at Lusaka, successfully defended her PhD thesis on The Effect of Loss of Parents on academic Performance and Psychosocial Adjustment of Selected Grade Five Children in Zambia (abstract)

In Augustus 2010 the second project of the LNF funded was completed: Beatrice Matafwali of the Department of Educational Psychology, Sociology & Special Education, School of Education, University of Zambia at Lusaka successfully defended her PhD thesis on Literacy and Language. Relationships in first and second grade.

By the end of 2010 the third project of the LNF funded was completed: Catherine Mbagaya of the Department of Psychology, Maseno Universiy, Kenya, successfully defended her PhD thesis on Child maltreatment in Kenya, Zambia and the Netherlands: A cross-cultural comparison of prevalence, psychopathological sequelae and mediation by PTSS. (abstract)

MA studies

At the end of 2007 Catherine Mbagaya of the Department of Psychology, Maseno University, Kenya, defended her MA thesis on Prevalence, patterns and risk factors of dating violence amongst Kenyan university students (abstract) with support from the LNF.

By mid 2009 three sucesses could be added to the Lolle Nauta Fund annals when Haatembo Mooya, Tamara Chansa and Given Hapunda succesfully completed their MA studies. On August 13th they were awarded the degree certificate.

ISSBD workshop

From November 30 until December 3, 2009 the 8th African Regional Workshop of the International Society for the Study of Behavioral Development (ISSBD) was held at Maseno University, Kenya. Both Given Hapunda and Haatembo Mooya participated in the workshop with a grant from the LNF.
